Fine art from local artistS

Joel Fremion

Waterfield Plaza is proud to present Joel's groundbreaking work in fabric collage.

As Joel explored the fine arts, particularly painting, he eventually created his own technique of “fabric collage.” This tactile artwork is an intricate blend of fabric and leather to create collages that are then further enhanced with painted details. The result is remarkably detailed images that startle the eye and intrigue the mind. The main body of Joel's work includes landscapes, still lifes, architecture, and figures

Samantha Fulk

Samantha Fulk is a Purdue Fort Wayne graduate with a bachelor’s in art and design, and a minor in art history, who strives to use her passion in painting as a way of bringing beauty to the mundane parts of our surroundings. Growing up in the small town of Churubusco, Sam often describes herself as a dreamer who was able to grow through a community that greatly supported her art.

Samantha began her professional painting career while in high school, completing her first two murals for her hometown. In Churubusco, you can find Samantha’s remarkable murals at Brevins Downtown Eatery, Churubusco History Center, and 2nd Floor Art Gallery to name a few. Since then, Samantha has been hired to complete both private and public murals in over five different counties in Indiana, as well as several smaller commissions for individuals and businesses alike. Her mural “The Beautiful and Historic Roanoke Eerie Canal” (Dickey Lock), can be found at the entrance of Waterfield Plaza’s off of High Street. As an employee of Waterfield herself, she upkeeps an art wall in Lavender Valley inspired by the calm aesthetic of the store and town. Samantha’s stunning artwork can be found around the plaza.

Roger W. Hultquist

As a self-taught painter, Roger W. Hultquist embraced his passion for art by creating stunning landscapes that studied the relationship between human interaction and the natural world. While working full-time as an attorney, he traveled extensively and painted beautiful scenery from all over America, Canada, and the UK.

Inspired by natural forms, Roger gravitated towards rolling fields and forests. Eventually, he began to find beauty in the dilapidated man-made objects among the foliage, such as barns and fences. This resulted in a mixture of hidden paradises and lovingly lived-in scenes. The calming nature of his work creates a sense of comfort that invites the viewer to step in.

Roger’s art holds many local awards and was used as the main promotion for Grand Detour’s Art Festival. Due to the many people who knew and loved Roger, you can find several of his works in Fort Wayne businesses including doctor offices, law offices, and banks.
